Riders Edge®
The New Rider Course
A proven blend of classroom instruction and range riding, the Rider’s Edge® New Rider Course delivers the basics of motorcycle operation. You’ll learn from devoted instructors certified by both the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® and Harley-Davidson to create a relaxed, supportive environment that fosters camaraderie and confidence.
Emphasis is placed on motorcycle controls, riding and maneuvering, basic street riding, accident avoidance and street strategies. After passing a written and riding skills evaluation, you’ll receive the WI DOT Skill Waiver Authorization form, which will entitle the student to waive the motorcycle skills test at the WI DMV, when other licensing requirements have been met. You will receive a MSF RiderCourse™ completion Card, which may qualify you for discounts on motorcycle insurance. But more than that you’ll begin a journey that lasts a lifetime.
The normal class schedule is Thursday and Friday evenings from 5:30pm to 8:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The evening sessions are classroom instruction, and the majority of the hours on the weekend are out on the range. Occasionally a weekday class is offered for those who are available during the weekday; please check our course schedules by following the link below.
Students are provided the use of the Buell Blast training motorcycle and need only to bring their own safety gear, and a desire to learn to have a great time on two wheels!
